You would almost wonder if Chow Mein is Chinese. It’s just that it has travelled extensively – starting out so long ago from the city of Taishan to making itself at home in cities and towns across this world.
We all know a place that produces a great Chow Mein, fresh noodles wok tossed with choice meat and vegetables until richly fragrant and ready to eat. Can you find something better? No wonder it came to town and stayed.
So now, we bring you the essence of a great Chow Mein, just waiting to take up residence at your place. All you need to add is your ingredients of choice to make it your own. Oh and that other essential – just cook with joy!
PREP: Rinse noodles thoroughly in warm water, drain and set aside. Slice your choice of meat and vegetables and set aside.
SEAR: Add meat to a hot and well-oiled wok or frypan, and fry until seared on all sides. Add sliced onion and the Spice Pack, and fry for 1 minute.
TOSS: Add prepared noodles with remaining vegetables and toss through. Add Chow Mein Sauce and stir until noodles are well coated. Cook for 3-5 minutes until sauce is well heated and meat is fully cooked. Serve immediately.
